Role Description
The Natural Perils & Geospatial Specialist will support the Pricing function on insurance pricing decisions using robust, accurate and timely data driven analysis. The Specialist is a senior technical role that supports the pricing of insurance products through data preparation and analysis, modelling, technical review and presenting insights to management.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
General
Efficiently manage, validate, and manipulate large and complex datasets.
Evaluate alternative data sources and feature engineer factors for risk rating.
Develop and maintain data assets for the wider team – understand sources of data and its limitations.
Analyse, interpret, and extrapolate data from several sources to resolve complex issues.
Draw insights, communicate findings, and provide recommendations on next steps.
Implement complex rating changes and quantify the expected impact on the portfolio.
Peer review and provide quality feedback on risk rating and new pricing rules.
Support the development of future enhancements in geospatial analysis, techniques, and processes.
Engage and collaborate with business to provide valuable advice and guidance on data, analytics, and complex pricing issues.
Qualifications AND experience
7+ years general insurance industry experience.
Proven analytical and problem-solving capability.
Excellent attention to detail.
Programming acumen in SAS, SQL, GCP, R and/or Python.
Experience in natural perils pricing and/or modelling is highly desirable.
Experience with geospatial and pricing software is desirable (e.g. QGIS, Radar, Classifier)
Degree qualified in mathematics, statistics, actuarial studies or similar.
